# Capability: Edit scalar block fields

## Intent phrases

- change heading on hero
- update body text

## Requires capabilities

`scalarBlockEdit`

## Prerequisites

- Active session: `create-page` or `open --page-slug`
- `snapshot` to find `@bN` refs
- Read `wp-cms-edit://customer/blocks-index` for editable scalar fields per block type

## Steps

1. `wp_cms_edit ["snapshot"]`
2. `wp_cms_edit ["read", "@b1"]` — inspect `blockName` and `attributes`
3. `wp_cms_edit ["set", "@b1", "heading", "Updated heading"]`
4. Repeat `set` for other scalar fields (`body`, `preHeading`, `imageAlt`, …)
5. `wp_cms_edit ["diff"]` → `wp_cms_edit ["save"]`

`@b0` is the page root (metadata only). Use `@b1+` for Gutenberg blocks.

## Confirmation gates

1. State which block ref and field you will change
2. Show `diff` before `save`

## Out of scope

- Array/object attributes (e.g. `laptopMedia`, link lists)
- Inner blocks
- Page title (not yet exposed as a scalar `set` target)
